Are you experiencing facial hair loss?
Have you tried a bunch of different products to help you grow your beard but none of them actually made any difference?
Do you have spotty or patchy areas in your beard section and, no matter what you do, the hair just won’t start growing again?
Beard transplant is a surgical procedure that involves transplanting individual hair follicles from the back of your head (donor site) to your beard area (recipient site) using microextraction instruments, which leave minimal scarring (the scars are not visible after a while).
Our surgeons can harvest your follicular grafts using two very similar techniques – FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation). Since the FUE technique is painless and leaves no scars, most surgeons and patients prefer it.
When you meet with one of our beard transplant surgeons in Turkey, they will inform you about everything there is to know about the procedure, including the potential risks that may occur during or after the surgery. Even if you decide not to go through with it, you can be sure that our surgeons will provide you with all the information necessary for making an educated decision.
During the consultation, our surgeon will also examine your donor and recipient sites to determine how many follicular grafts they can effectively harvest without causing any damage to your hair and give you the exact look you want.
Beard transplant is performed under local anesthesia. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, our surgeon will start harvesting follicular grafts from the back of your head using a micromotor that makes extremely small round punch incisions (0.6mm to 1.20mm).
Once all the needed follicles have been extracted, our surgeon will start transplanting them into your beard section, after making small channels using custom-made needles to place the grafts into.
As you can see, the procedure is minimally invasive, but the general risks include:
You’ll definitely feel a bit of numbness, loss of sensation and tingling in both your donor and recipient sites after the surgery, but that’s completely normal. Those feelings usually take several weeks but don’t worry if it prolongs to several months – again, it’s normal and it will pass.
Our surgeon will advise you on the medication to take and the activities to avoid. You should not engage in any strenuous physical activity, avoid sun exposure for longer than 30 minutes during the first two weeks of your recovery period and wear a hat. Apply cold compressions to relieve the pain and the swelling and sleep with your head elevated at 45 degrees for the first two days.
You can start shaving about a week after the procedure but expect a lot of transplanted hair to fall out in several weeks – don’t worry, as they’ll start growing normally after several months. The results of beard transplant are permanent, but your facial hair may change later as you age.
